It is Queens University policy that students are allowed to complete no more than 20 hours per week of work during term time.
Please note that from Monday the 10th of January 2022 that Queens University is implementing a 15 hours per week cap for Queen’s students working during term time.
There will be no limit placed on the number of work hours undertaken by students outside term time. As a student worker, it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not exceed the weekly cap, however, this will be enforced automatically via the QWork system.
Please note, in some cases there may be specific working hour requirements dependent on funding criteria. In these instances, it is the students’ responsibility to ensure they adhere to their personal working hours limit.
To update your individual working hour limit on the QWork system, please email email@example.com confirming your name, limitations of hours, start and end date of the limitations to hours.
Please note, any Student Visa Holders (formerly Tier 4 Students) are subject to a legal limit of 20 hours paid working per week, however, Queen’s is implementing 15-hour limit for all students. This is to ensure equity of approach across our entire student community.
