It is King's College London University policy that students are allowed to complete no more than 20 hours per week of work during term time.
There will be occasions when you need to work more than 20 hours (e.g. when you are outside of term time). In this instance, we require the following information from yourself and your manager:
Worker Requirements
As a worker, you must provide the below documentation in order to increase your working hour limits:
- Confirmation of Study Letter (this can be provided by The Compass Team, located at most King's Campuses)
- Confirmation of Term Dates (this can be provided by The Compass Team, located at most King's Campuses)
Manager Requirements
- Completion of the ‘KCL Increasing a Student's Hours Form’. This form is available here: https://goo.gl/PtW6uJ
This information should be sent to our Customer Service team: customer.services@kingstalentbank.com, who will review the documentation and increase the weekly hour cap where applicable.
Please note that when the new term starts, your hours will automatically revert to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Notes for PhD Students
PhD students are an exception to term time criteria as they are in term throughout the year. As a PhD student, you are allowed to work full time for a maximum of 8 weeks throughout the year.
If you wish to take annual leave in order to complete more than 20 hours work per week, please provide the following information to our customer service team:
- Confirmation of Annual Leave Letter from your PhD supervisor
